Troubleshooting Guide

Identify what's causing your septic or drain problem. For each symptom below, learn what you're seeing, what's happening underground, and what to do next.

Common Symptoms

Slow Drains

What you're seeing: Water drains slowly from sinks, tubs, or toilets. Underground: Partial blockage from buildup, root intrusion, or a full septic tank restricting flow. Do next: Schedule a drain inspection or septic pump-out.

Sewage Odor

What you're seeing: Foul smell near drains, the septic tank, or outside near the drainfield. Underground: Sewer gas escaping through dry traps, cracked pipes, or a failing drainfield. Do next: Contact us for a system evaluation.

Wet or Spongy Ground

What you're seeing: Saturated, soggy ground over your drainfield area. Underground: Drainfield soil is saturated — it can no longer absorb treated wastewater. Do next: This is urgent. Schedule an assessment before the system surfaces.

Gurgling Pipes

What you're seeing: Gurgling sounds from drains when water flows. Underground: Air trapped in the system due to a partial blockage or venting issue. Do next: Schedule a drain line inspection.

Backed-Up Drains

What you're seeing: Water backing up into sinks, tubs, or floor drains. Underground: Complete blockage in the main line, full septic tank, or drainfield failure. Do next: Call immediately — this requires urgent attention.
