Three-Tank Mound System Pumping with Easy Year-Round Access – Independence, MN
· Independence, Hennipen County, MN · Mound System Maintenance
Problem
This residential septic system in Independence consists of two 1,000-gallon septic tanks and a 1,000-gallon pump tank serving a mound system. All three tanks have concrete manhole covers located at grade, providing excellent access for routine septic pumping and maintenance. At-grade access is especially valuable during Minnesota winters because the tank openings can be located and serviced without digging through frozen soil.
Solution
We pumped and serviced both 1,000-gallon septic tanks and the 1,000-gallon pump tank serving the mound system. The concrete manhole covers were already installed at grade, allowing direct access to all three tanks. Keeping septic manholes accessible at grade makes future maintenance easier and can significantly reduce the difficulty of servicing the system during frozen winter conditions.
